The award was offered by the CILIP CSG Information Literacy Group and the Scottish Library and Information Council (SLIC). The award was open to individuals working in the Information Literacy arena, and in any sector, within the United Kingdom.
Andrew Walsh (Academic Librarian, University of Huddersfield), in recognition of his high profile achievements in promoting the use of mobile learning technologies and active/game-based learning techniques in information literacy teaching.
The runner-up was Judy Atkinson (LIS Manager, Royal College of Nursing), recognised for her outstanding achievements in raising the profile of information literacy within the nursing, midwifery and health care professions.

2011 – Duncan Chappell (Glasgow School of Art) in recognition of his role in the development of InfosmART. This is a portfolio of online learning modules in information and research skills created for GSA’s learning, teaching and research communities.

The runner-up was Sonja Haerkoenen (Subject Librarian, Cardiff University). Sonja was recognised for her outstanding achievements in embedding high quality information literacy programmes into European Studies and Psychology courses. Also, for raising the profile of information literacy at numerous international events.

2010 - Anthony Beal (Formerly West Cheshire College). Chosen for his commitment and dedication to providing the best learner focused Information Literacy curriculum possible at West Cheshire College.

2009 – Ronan O’Beirne (Bradford College) for his work on the learning module on information literacy developed initially for public library staff – Pop-i (a collaborative non-commercial venture between Imperial College London and the City of Bradford Metroplitan District Council Library Service).

2008 – Nigel Morgan (Cardiff University). Recognised for his role in the development of the Cephalonian Method of library orientation and its promotion across the UK and abroad, leadership and co-authorship of the Handbook for Information Literacy Teaching and involvement in numerous other high profile IL projects within Cardiff University.
